The plastic waste created by the pandemic exacerbates the tension in our environment. In fact, years from now the masks collected and disposed of will be seen for seven generations. Yet, there are other materials much better suited to prevent pandemics, garments that do not leach poisons and block viruses. What if the mask we wear can protect us and the environment? 

Seaweed's popularity is skyrocketing in the pharmaceutical industry - specifically to control viruses, from the common flu to SARS-CoV-2. Now, we bring into existence an antiviral material. A seaweed-based material made sustainably. A textile that is made with a naturally abundant material that’s biodegradable and fighting off viruses. Shifting the focus from the individual to collective action, a local practice resulting in a global exercise, one anyone can be a part of building a sustainable future.
